Video Showcases

All groups in the program produce videos as part of their development during each course. This can take the form of videos made in the studio, as well as at our regular concert performances. The main focus of every session is the video showcase of their best material after their final week of preparation.

The Tuesday Band v21.1 does the composition Ricomenciare by our pianist Rachma Lim as part of our Tiny Club concert as a final performance for the recently finished 10-week session. Also led by mentor Greg Lyons on tenor sax, with Rafaee Mahmood on drums, Fabian Lee on bass, and Eriko Murakami on trombone.

An offering from our recent final performances of session 21.1 from the Thursday Band. Dave Holland’s Looking Up delivered by a great crew, led by mentor Greg Lyons, and featuring a 14-year old Jesse Collins on keyboard. Also with Rafaee Mahmood on drums, Justin Baird on bass, Charlie Dharapak on baritone sax, and Jerome Chosson on harmonica.

The Tuesday Band represents the goal aesthetic of the Grooveworks program. The material is drawn from the cutting-edge of the global jazz scene, but since a coming-of-age for expressive musicians is to present, and arrange, their own works, band member’s compositions often form a part of our repertoire.
